A Kenya Defence Forces soldier was on Saturday killed after a vehicle he was travelling in vereed off the road and rolled several times at Mkunumbi area in Mpeketoni. Six other soldiers sustained serious injuries in the 3pm accident and were flown to Nairobi for specialised treatment.
According to witnesses the vehicle was moving at a high speed when it hit a pothole and lost control.
The officers were said to have been on their way to Witu from Hindi town to beef up security in the area.
