Police in Likoni are investigating the murder of four people among them a businessman and child on Sunday night after gunmen attacked residents of Soweto area in Mombasa.

Mombasa County Commander Robert Kitur said the unknown assailants shot at people indiscriminately killing the four and injuring six others before escaping on a motorcycle.

Kitur also said that police were also investigating the source of leaflets found in the area which warned a certain community to leave or face dire consequences.

The Sunday shooting incident follows another attack that occurred on Friday night in Lamu county in which seven people were killed among them four police officers at Mambo Sasa forest in Witu division.

Others killed in the Lamu attack were a Tahmeed bus driver, a Toyota Probox driver and a passenger.

Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo consequently issued a dusk to dawn curfew in Lamu county that will require residents to stay indoors from 6:30pm to 6:30am.
